me he was praying for a blessing on the work, I
knew we should have it, in accordance with the
Master's promise.
Yours affectionately,
V. Campbell.
To Mrs. Macdiarmid. Akgyll Lodge.
1892.
I cannot tell you what joy it is to me to hear
of all going so well, not but what I thought it
would. I never had such a solemn sense of God
working with us, or rather through us.
Lome writes now that my father is a British
Duke, I am to be made Female Tetrarch of Tiree.
I have replied, I think a Scottish Duke quite as
good as British. He will get my letter at Windsor,
and I can but hope he won't repeat it to the Queen !
April.
I have a sense of blank, now that I cannot follow
the days as they come round with the various
meetings. I am sure you will all remember that
during the summer months, when words which
have been spoken or read may come home with
fresh power, how important it is to be, what they
call here in the south, " aggressive." We High-
landers especially are slow to express our diffi-
culties or longings, but a loving, sympathetic
word, delivered, as Dr. Saphir used to say, " in
the Master's tone," because we have been " with
Him," will be blessed to many.
