(c) Sir John Murray of Ravelrig.
(d) Colonel Walter Murray of Pilmore. From him apparently
descended : —
(1) Colonel John Murray of Pilmuir. Will recorded
23rd August 1745 (Edinburgh). His widow
was Helen Murray, whose Will was recorded
20th December 1760 (Edinburgh). The
Will of their son, Lieutenant Patrick Murray
of Pilmure, was recorded 12th January 1745
(Edinburgh).
(e) Alexander Murray, had a son : —
(1) John Murray, apprenticed to a merchant 5th
June 1650 (Apprentice Roll).
(/) Patrick Murray.
(g) William Murray.
He married, second, Margaret Wauchope of Keckmure, and had two
daughters.
HC1T10 on Seals, 1580 and 1595. — A fetterlock; on a chief three stars (Laing's
Seals).
(336) Sir Archibald Murray of Blackbarony, died before 1634. He was M.P.
for Peeblesshire 1617 and 1625, and was created a BARONET of Nova
Scotia 15th May 1628. He married Margaret Maule, and had issue: —
(a) Sir Alexander (No. 337).
(b) Walter Murray of Halmyre.
(c) Robert Murray, father of: —
(1) Robert Murray of Murray's Hall.
He had also a natural son : —
(d) Archibald Murray, apprenticed to a tailor 1st July 1618
{Apprentice Roll).
HrtTlS on Seal, 1617. — A fetterlock; on a chief three stars (Laing's Seals).
In Font's MS., c. 1624. — Argent, a fetterlock sable; on a chief azure three mullets
of the first. MOTTO : "Doe in time." [Plate VI., fig. 6.]
(337) Sir Alexander Murray, second Baronet of Blackbarony. M.P. for
Peeblesshire 1639-41. He married, first, Margaret, daughter of Sir
Richard Cockburn of Clerkington, and had : —
(a) Sir Archibald (No. 338).
\b) Richard (No. 340).
He married, second, Margaret, daughter of William Murray of
Romanno, and had : —
(c) John Murray of Cringletie, Peeblesshire. Married the
daughter of Drummond of Hawthornden, and died s.p.
HrmS recorded in Lyon Office, 1673.— O, a fetterlock
azure ; on a chief of the second three mullets argent ;
within a bordure gules. CREST : None given. MOTTO :
" Deum time." [Plate VI., fig. 7.]
(d) Alexander of Cringletie (No. 349).
(338) Sir Archibald Murray, third Baronet of Blackbarony, died about
1700. He was M.P. for Peeblesshire 1661-1700, and married Mary
Keith, daughter of William, seventh Earl Marischal, and had : —
