Tippermore.
Principal Authority — Retours, etc.
(218) Alexander Murray, eighth son of Sir David (No. 93). He is named in the
entail of Tullibardine 10th March 1457. From him descended : —
(219) Patrick Murray of Tippermore. Will recorded 8th December 1581
(Edinburgh). A "cautioner" 10th May 1559 {Criminal Trials). He
married Isabel Tod, whose Will was recorded nth March 1584-85 (Edin-
burgh).
HtTltS on Seal, 1561. — Two stars in chief within a Royal tressure surmounted
of a pale (ex inf. W. R. Macdonald).
He was father of: —
(220) JOHN Murray of Tippermore, served heir to his father nth May 1609.
Hnil0 on Seal, 161 5. — On a pallet between two stars in chief two saltires and
another star in pale (ex inf. W. R. Macdonald).
He was father of: —
(221) Sir James Murray of Tippermore, father of: —
(222) QuiNTlGERN Murray of Tippermore, served heir to his father and
grandfather 22nd January 1648. The next I find was: —
(223) George Murray of Tippermore, buried Greyfriars, Edinburgh, 29th July
1687. The last was : —
(224) Sir Robert Murray of Tippermore, whose Will was recorded 28th April
17 14 (Edinburgh). He had a brother, Anthony, died before 1728, leaving
two sons, George and Robert, both of whose Wills were recorded
30th May 1728 (Edinburgh).
Hl*lT10 of Captain John Murray, " descended of a younger brother of Tulli-
bardine," recorded in Lyon Office, 1672-77. — Azure, a thistle proper between
three mullets argent within a double tressure flory-counter-flory or. CREST :
A lions paw holding a sword proper. MOTTO: " Fortis fortuna adjuvat."
