(294) William Hamilton of Bangor, Co. Down, fifth son of Hans Hamilton
(No. 252), died 1627. Married Jane, daughter of Sir John Melville, and
had:—
(a) James Hamilton of Newcastle, killed at Blackwater fight
5th July 1646. Married Margaret, daughter of Francis
Kynaston of Laule, Co. Down, and had issue : —
(1) James Hamilton of Bangor. Will proved 26th
February 1706. Married Sophia Mordaunt,
daughter of John, first Viscount Mordaunt
of Avalon, and left : —
(a) James Hamilton, M.P. for Bangor
1692, died s.p.
(b) John Hamilton, of Co. Cavan, died s.p. Married Jane Echlin.
\c) Hans Hamilton of Carnisure, Co. Down, M.P., died 28th
December 1655. Married Margaret Kennedy, and
had:—
(1) James Hamilton, born 1654; died 1690. Mar-
ried Christian, daughter of William Hamil-
ton of Erinagh, and had three daughters.
(d) William Hamilton of Erinagh, Co. Down, died 26th January
16S0. Married, first, Ellen, daughter of Phelim Magennis,
and had : —
(1) James (No. 295).
He married, second, Christian, daughter of Joscelin
Ussher, and had : —
(2) Joscelin Hamilton, died s.p. Will proved 1690.
(295) James Hamilton of Tollymore, Co. Down. Will proved 1700. Married
Anne Mordaunt, daughter of John, first Viscount Mordaunt of Avalon,
and had issue : —

(b) William Hamilton, died young.
(c) John Hamilton, died young.
(296) James Hamilton of Tollymore, died 17th March 1758. On 13th May
1719 he was created VISCOUNT LIMERICK and Baron Claneboye ; and
on 24th November 1756 he was created EARL OF CLANBRASSILL. He
married, 15th October 1728, Henrietta Bentinck, daughter of William,
first Earl of Portland. She died 10th June 1792, having had two
sons : —
(a) James (No. 297).
(b) Charles Hamilton, died 30th December 1741 {Mtcsgrave's
Obituary).
(297) James, second Earl of Clanbrassill, born 13th August 1729; died s.p.
6th February 1798. He married, 21st May 1774, Grace Foley, daughter
of Thomas, first Baron Foley of Kidderminster. She died 9th January
1813.
