Married, August 18 14, Anne Webster or Wedderburn
daughter of the wife of his brother (No. 211) by her
first husband.
(211) Robert Douglas of Brigton, born 12th April 1773; died 8th August
1835. He married, 24th June 1802, Elizabeth, daughter of Alexander
Read of Logie, widow of David Webster or Wedderburn (youngest son
of Robert Wedderburn of Pearsie). He had an only son : —
(212) William Douglas of Brigton, who died 10th February 1869. He married
Ellen, daughter of John Rigge of Hawkeshead, Lancashire, leaving : —
(a) William (No. 213).
(b) Robert John Douglas, born 3rd January 1864.
(213) William Charles Douglas of Brigton, D.S.O., born 18th June 1862.
Married, 24th August 1892, Jeannette, daughter of P. Hutchison, of
Thornwood, near Glasgow.
HrtT16 recorded in Lyon Office, 1901. — 1 and 4. Argent, a man's heart gules
ensigned with an imperial crown proper, on a chief azure three mullets of the
first. 2 and 3. Argent, a cross embattled sable. Over all, dividing the
quarters, a cross raguly sable. All within a bordure invected azure, charged
with eight holly leaves or. CREST : A salamander in flames proper.
MOTTO : "famais arriere." [Plate V., fig. 9].

(214) JOHN DOUGLAS, third son of No. 138, is given in Douglas Peerage as " ancestor
of the Douglases of Cruixton, Quarrelholes, Blackmill, etc." He was
father of: —

(b) Robert Douglas, father of Robert (No. 218).
(215) JOHN DOUGLAS, died before 1608. Married Alyson Beard, and had :—
(a) William (No. 216).
(b) James Douglas, baptised South Leith 16th November 1606.
(c) John Douglas, baptised Inveresk 27th March 1609.
(216) Rev. William Douglas of Blackmill, baptised South Leith 20th July
1600, minister of Aboyne, who was deposed in 1644 (Scott's Fasti).
He married Marjory, daughter of Rev. John Ross (Stodart's MS.), and
left a son : —
(217) Rev. William Douglas, minister of Midmar 1657-^. 79. Died about 1679,
leaving two sons (Scott's Fasti) : —
(a) Robert Douglas of Blackmill, died c. 1723. He married
Barbara Farquharson, and had : —
(1) Robert Douglas.
(2) William Douglas, baptised 14th December 1716
