happen theforesaid feu dutyof One hundred and eight pounds Scots
to run for two years into the third unpaid, then and in that case the
said feu duty of three years shall be doubled, and if the payment
of the said feu duty shall run for three years into the fourth
unpaid, then and in that case this present Charter, so far as con-
cerns the foresaid lands of the Barony of Ardukness and Teinds
thereof with all that may follow therein, shall thenceforth become
null and void, as if the same had never been granted, and that
without the necessity of any other process of declaration to be
raised hereupon, and that for all other burden, exaction, demand,
or secular service that may be any ways exacted or required forth
of the towns, lands, islands, waters, fishings, and teind sheaves
aforesaid, saving always and reserving my own right and the right
of all others, as accords of the law. And I consent to the
registration thereof in the Books of Council and Session, therein
to remain for preservation, and to that effect I constitute, &c.

Charter of Confirmation under the Great Seal by Robert II. to
Ferchard his physician.
Robertus Dei Gratia Rex Scotorum omnibus probis hominibus
totius terre sue Salutem Sciatis nos approbasse ratificasse et hac
presenti Carta nostra confirmasse donationem illam et concessionem
quam dilectus filius noster Alexander Senechallus miles dominus
de Badenach fecit et concessit Ffercardo medico nostro de terris
de Melness et de duabus partibus de Hoip cum pertinenciis,
Tenend. ethabend. dicto Ffercardo cum omnibus singulis libertati-
bus, commoditatibus aysiamentis et justis pertinentiis spectantibus
seu quoque modo juste spectaturis, valentibus in futurum adeo
libere et quiete, plenarie, integre et honorifice, in omnibus et per
omnes sicut Carta dicti filii nostri eodem medico exinde confecta
plenius inde continet. et prof, salvo servicio nostro. In cujus
rei testimonium presenti Carte nostre nostrum precipimus apponi
sigillum Testibus Venerabilibus in Christo patribus, Willielmo et
