RESIGNATION OF THE SHERIFFSHIP OF STRATH-
NAVER BY DONALD LORD RAE IN FAVOUR OF
JOHN EARL OF SUTHERLAND.
Att Edinburgh the twentie sex day of Sep-
March 19 f Member, the zeir of God 1633 zeiris. In presence
1633. £ of the Lordis of Counsall, compeirit Mr. Alexander
Sep. 26. jCumyng, Pror. for Donald Lord of Rae, heritabill
Schereff underwrittin and gave in the prorie. off Re-
signation underwrittin subscryvit with his hand, desyring the
same to be insert and registrat in the buikis of Counsall and
Sessioun, To have the strenth of ane decreit of the Lordis
thairof, et ad futuram rej memoriam, And quilk desyre the
saidis Lords thocht reasonabill, and thairfore hes ordanit
and ordanis the said Prorie. of Resignatioun to be insert and re-
gistrat in the saidis Buikis of Counsall ; Decerns the same to have
the strenth of ane Decreit, and to remain thairin ad futuram
rej memoriam, Quhairof the tenor followis : Be it kend till all
men be thir presentis that we Donald Lord of Rae, heritabill
Schereff underwrittin, to have maid, constitut and ordanit, Lykeas
be the tennor heirof mak, constituit and ordain Robert Gray
of Creiche and ilk ane of them, conjunctlie and severallie my
verrie lawfull and irrevocabill procuratours, actours, factours, and
speciall earrandbeareris to the effect underwrittin, Givand,grantand,
and committand to tham and ilk ane of them my verrie full, frie,
plein power, express command, bidding and chairge, to compeir
befor ane noble and michtie Earle, Johne Earle of Sutherland
and my immediat superior of the office underwrittin, and thair for
me and in my name as use is in sic caiss, to resigne, renunce, sur-
rander, simpliciter, upgive and overgive All, and haill my office of
Scherifschip within all and sundrie the pairtis and boundis of the
landis and countrie of Strathnavar, with the pertinentis and my
power for excerceising of the said office within the same, with all
richt, tytill, entreis, clame, kyndnes, propertie or possessioun, I,
my airis or assignayis had, hes, or ony wayes may pretend to
have thairto, In the handis of the said Earle ad perpetuam
remanentiam. Lykas be the tennor heirof, I resigne, renunce, sur-
render simpliciter, upgive and overgive fra me and my foresaidis
all and haill the said office of Scherifschip, within all and sundrie
