4 PREFACE.
gess Act of 1876 has been passed ; Day Scholars have
been admitted into the Hospital by competition from the
Out-door Schools, and several other matters of interest to
the Institution have occurred.
The Appendix contains a List of the present G-overnors,
Officials, and Teachers ; 1 the Hospital and Schools ; a Table
of all the Heriot Schools, with the date of their opening
and the amount of accommodation in each ; the Names of
all the House-Bursars, Out-Bursars, Medallists, and Anni-
versary Preachers since 1872; the number of Boys annually
admitted into the Hospital, and the Revenue and Expendi-
ture of the Institution since that date. The amended
Regulations, adopted in 1876, for the Management of the
Heriot Schools are inserted in full.
For the Collection and Notes in the Appendix regarding
the Trabroun Family, the Editor is indebted to Mr G-. W.
Ballingall, Taap Hall, Ferry Road, Edinburgh, who
states that he obtained some items of useful information
from Mr Gr. Heriot Stevens of Gullane, and J. Eonaldson
Lyell, Esq., Lochy Bank, Auchtermuchty.
