Meanwhile, the departure of his brother for
Canada, to the prospect of which allusion has
been already made in the foregoing letters,
drew nigh; and he thus notices the event
in the following letter :
" London, April 5th, 1838.
" My dearest Mother, — I shall write
you all that I can about Duncan ; in the mean
time I may tell you that we parted cheerfully,
and why should we do otherwise, when we look
