Experiences of the Great War

Civilian life

George Ramage's later life is largely undocumented.

A series of postcards shows that he travelled quite extensively both at home and abroad, journeying as far as Naples in 1923.

The postcards were written to Mrs Mary Ann Davidson in whose boarding house he frequently stayed on visits to Aberdeen.

Mrs Davidson's niece, Miss Greta Mair, can still remember Ramage playing the piano with the aid of a knife strapped to the stump of his left arm. Read more of her memories of George Ramage.

George Ramage died in Edinburgh on 4 March 1934, just short of his 52nd birthday.
