Married Margaret Lamberton had Sir Andrew or Rather I
Apprehend this is the true Succession of the Lesslys Viz.

[page 398.]

SIR NORMAN LESSLY of that Ilk had Andrew his Eldest Son
and heir Apparent in the 1317 Married to Mary Abernethy
and the Second Son Sir Walter Lessly Lord of Ross Sir
Norman Lessly who Married Margt Lamberton and is his
relict Anno 1368 and to be after all possible Scrutiny in the
Affair Appers to be to me the Sir Norman the first of the
house of Rothes and the father of Sir George Lessly of Rothes.
Sir Andrew who is in the Popes Letter 1320 by Mary Aber-
nethy had a Son Sir Andrew Lessly design'd Dominus ejusdem
who gives the Annuity out of Banbrigh to Sir Hugh Barclay
of Kilmaroon its without date but Alexander and Patrick
Bishops of Ross and Brechin being witnesses it must be before
that Patrick was Chancellour and he is not therein designed
Chancellour which he would have been if then in the Office
which was not before that year.

So that he may very Cronologically be the Son immediatly of
Andrew in the Popes Letter in 1320. And the more Especially
that Walter Lessly in the write is called his fathers brother that
is brother to Sir Andrew and Son to Sir Norman Lessly of that
Ilk in the 1317 for out of this Scheme we can never make a
Norman in the direct Line otherwise Norman the first of Rothes
Cannot be brother to Walter Lord of Ross for as we Say two
brothers cannot be of one and the Same Name

SIR ANDREWS SON was SIR NORMAN LESSLY who resigns the
Lands of Banbrigh Lour Dalopy in favours of himself and the
heirs Male of his Body which failing to the heirs male of Sir
George Lessly at Scoon the 18 August 1371 and the first of
King Robert the 2d. In the resignation in the Sovereigns
hands he is Designed filii et heredi AndreƦ de Lessly Militis
Sir George Lessly of Rothes who gets the Substitution in the
Investiture Seems to be an Elder brothers Son than the Lord
of Ross was Otherways its presumed he would have been
before him in the Entail.

So the Certain descent of the Stem and Branches of this
Line is This

Since Sir Norman
