PATRICK LESLEY the Third Son after his Father's Death
succeeded to him in the Estate of Balwhaine ut infra.

WILLIAM LESLEY Fourth Son went abroad, and took Orders
in the Church of Rome (for almost all his Family were Popish)
and was like to be preferred to high Offices in that Church.
But being a Prebend at Urotislavia without consulting his
Friends he entered into the Jesuits Order, and was, First, Pro-
fessor of Philosophy in Perugia, then Rector of the Scotch
College at
and after travelled here and there as his

Superiors commanded him. See a great Elogium of him in Sir

ALEXANDER LESLEY the youngest Son was bred and educate
in Germany by his Brother James the Count. He applied
himself, First, to Letters, then, to Arms, and got Honour
thereby, and served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Siege of
Vienna against the Turks in Anno 1683, and being sent out of
the Town (to make a Sally upon the besieging Turks) by Count
Staremberg the Governour (out of a Pike) in that desperat
Sally he was killed on 8 August 1685. He married Crescentia
Christiana Countess of Herbertsteen only Heir to George
Gunther Count of Herbertsteen. She bare a Son Jacobus
Ernestus, and another Franciscus Jacobus. He is to get the
Lands of Pernegg.

PATRICK LESLEY Third Son to Alexander the Thirteenth
Laird of Balwhaine at his Father's Death succeeded to the
Estate of Balwhaine, because James his elder Brother was and
continued a Count in Germany (succeeding to his Uncle Walter
the count). This Patrick was a frugal and virtuous Gentle-
man, and both hath redeemed sundry Lands that pertained to
the Fortune of old, and were annalzied, and also hath bought
other Lands as Meikle Wardes and Fetterneir. When his
eldest Brother James the Count died he assumed the Title of
Count Lesley, and is ordinarily so called as next in Blood to
him. He married, First, Elizabeth Douglas Daughter to
Douglas of Brigfourd (says the Notes Brother Son
