Murray afterwards Regent. But this Gentleman would not
consent to it, and diswaded Huntlie from it. He helped to
compose the Differences betwixt the Earls of Athol and
Huntlie, and did much to preserve the Cathedral Church of
Aberdeen from being demolished by the Zeal of the Reformers.
Hereby this Gentleman came to be in great Favour with his
Prince.

HIS eldest Son succeeded to him. He was a Knight and
Shirefe of Aberdeen and kept and defended
then Bishop of Aberdeen from the Fury of some Zealots, for
which he got from the Bishop the Borony of Fetterneir, &c.
in Few. He died 3d August 1569.

ARTHUR LESLEY

Second and Third Sons to

William Lesley of Balwhaine of his First
Marriage. The First of them William died
a Courtier sans Issue, and Arthur was drowned
in swiming in the Water of Don by a Fall of
his Horse.

JEAN LESLEY eldest Daughter of the First Mar-
riage married Thomas1 Dempster of Muiresk,
and bare among others the Learned and famous
Thomas Dempster, who had so much Honour.

MARGARET LESLEY 2d Daughter married Alex-
ander Abercromby of Birkenbooge.

ISOBEL LESLEY 3d Daughter married James
Arbuthnot of Lentush.

2d Marriage

ANDREW
GILBERT

LESLEYS eldest and Second of the Second

Marriage

Andrew died in forreign Countries.
Gilbert was slain by young Muiresk.

Marriage.

10. JOHN 2d LESLEY of Balwhaine succeeded to his Father
Sir William. He married thrice. His First Wife was Eliza-
beth Grant Daughter to Laird of Grant.
