27.
Entries
Entries will be through Command Boxing Committees who will
be informed by the Army B.A. each year how many boxers can be
accepted in each weight. Personnel from overseas, other than B.A.O.R.,
are eligible to compete if they happen to be in the United Kingdom
at the time but they must enter through the Command in which their
Regimental Depot is situated.
28. Qualifications for entry into the Army Championships
(a) Commands will hold Command Individual Championships
in sufficient time to enable them to submit their entries for the Army
Championships when called for by the Army Boxing Association.
(b) Commands may enter the following:—
(i) Winners of each weight (Fly to Heavy) which will be an auto-
matic selection. In the event of the winner being unfit to compete
the runner-up should be given the opportunity of taking his
place.
(ii) Boxers, additional to above, who, in the opinion of the Com-
mand boxing Committee were narrowly defeated in the Com-
mand Championships and are considered to be close to the
standard of the winner in his weight. The Army B.A. Selection
Committee reserves the right to refuse acceptance.
(iii) Boxers who were unable to compete in the Command Cham-
pionships for any of the following reasons:
Illness certified by their unit medical officer.
Compassionate leave or special duty, certified by the
boxer's Commanding Officer.
Circumstances which were outside the boxer's control.
29. Acceptance of entries by Army B.A.
The Army B.A. Selection Committee on receipt of the entries
from the Hon. Secretary will meet and consider the entries as a whole
and decide who will be accepted for entry into the Army Champion-
ships. Any member of the Army B.A. Executive or Selection Com-
mittees may recommend the acceptance of a boxer he considers justifies
inclusion in the entries for the Championships even if the boxer may
not have been included in the list of entries submitted by his Com-
mand. Commands will be notified at the earliest possible date of all
the boxers accepted.
