BRIEF NOTES ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF DIVING
STAGES, DEPTHS OF WATER, ETC.
Note.
—Those
contemplating erecting diving stages are advised to
consult the Hon. Secretary, Amateur Swimming Association, before
doing so.
General
The first consideration in the design of a diving stage is the
greatest depth of water which is available.
In deciding the various heights it should be noted that running
boards are far more useful than standing platforms, which can be
provided at intermediate heights where they do not interfere
unduly with the use of the running boards. As far as circumstances
permit, the placing of standing platforms under running boards
should be avoided.
Heights and Depths
The minimum depths of water required 'for International Events
and for A.S.A. Championships are specified in each case, but
standard international type springboards and firm boards may
well be installed in many baths having a lesser depth of water, and
be available for District, County and Club competitions as well as
for practice purposes.
