(f) Life members may fly the A. S.A. burgee in any yacht in
which they are in charge.
(g) Life members will pay the normal subscription to the group
with which they sail. Hon. Secs. of groups are at liberty to and
must under certain circumstances control the number of life mem-
bers belonging to their groups ; the serving soldier must always
be given full opportunity to sail.
(h) Only serving members of the active Army and students at
Welbeck College will be eligible to compete in the Inter-Group
Challenge Cup competition at the A.S.A. regatta.

C " Helmsmen
(NOT qualified to race)

Swim loo yards.
2.
Set sails and in all respects prepare the boat for sailing. Be
capable of reefing sails.
3. Be capable of sailing the boat in light or moderate winds on
all points of the wind.
4. Be capable of leaving and picking up moorings (if used) ;
going alongside a landing stage or other boat, head to wind ;
sailing round a mark by tacking or gybing.
5. Be capable of stowing sails and gear and securing the boat
satisfactorily to moorings.
6. Knowledge of the three basic rules :—
(a) Port and starboard tacks.
(b) Close hauled and free.
(c) Overtaking boat.

B " Helmsmen
(qualified to race)
As for " C " Helmsmen, in up to fresh winds, plus a fair knowledge
of the R.Y.A. rules, and the procedure for starting a race under
R.Y.A. rules.
"
A " Helmsmen
As for " B " Helmsmen preferably with a knowledge of several
types of dinghy and a sound knowledge of R.Y.A. rules. Must
have sailed in at least five races, satisfactorily completed.
