envelope for him to return them. The handicapper will write on the
form the handicap allowance expressed in minutes and seconds.
On receipt of the returned forms from the handicapper, preparation
of the Start Sheet can take place.
The Start Sheet is merely the instructions to each competitor
taking part. It consists of the administrative instructions, details
of the course, and the order and time of starting of each competitor.
Administrative instructions should show where and when com-
petitors must report for accommodation and details of rationing.
The details of the course should be reproduced in the same manner
as received from the District R.T.T.C.
The order of starting should be headed with the names of the
officials to include the event secretary, timekeeper and handicapper.
There is no set way in which the competitors are listed for starting
but splitting up members of the same unit forming teams should
always be observed. It is of great assistance to the timekeeper if the
order of starting avoids bunches at the finish but this can best be
done by asking a timekeeper if he could advise on this.
A principle followed by R.T.T.C. officials is the placing of the
fastest men on io-minute starting places, e.g., at
o61o, 0620, 0630,
0640,
etc. The next fastest riders are then places
o605, o615, 0625,
0635,
etc. Riders between are placed in groups, each man a
little
slower
than the one preceding him.
