and a novice class boxer 3 rounds of
2
minutes each.
Between Novice boxers .. 3 rounds of
2

The number and duration of rounds for Junior boxers is laid down
in Appendix 14 of the A.B.A. handbook. (A.B.A. Rule 7).
Notes.
(a) The above are published so that service boxers will know
what conditions to expect when they box under A.B.A. rules.
In the services the maximum duration of any bout must not exceed
6
2-
minute rounds or 4 3-minute rounds. It is pointed out that
these are the maximum limit to cover certain isolated occasions
when boxers are called upon to take part in matches or competitions
in which these number of rounds are laid down (see seperate rules
laying down the length and number of rounds for the I.S.B.A. Cham-
pionships and the Boys I.S.B.A. Championships).

The Draw
A draw shall be made for all competitions after the weigh-in and
medical examination.
In competitions where there are more than four competitors a suf-
ficient number of byes shall be drawn in the first series to reduce the
number of competitors in the second series to 4, 8, 16 or 32.
Competitors drawing a bye in the first series shall be the first to
box in the second series. If there is an odd number of byes the
boxer who draws the last bye competes in the second series against
the winner of the first bout in the first series.
No competitor may receive a bye in the first series and a walk-over
in the second series, or two consecutive walk-overs. Should such
a position arise, a fresh draw should be made of the competitors
still remaining in the competition, to provide opponents for these
competitors who have already received a bye or walk-over in the pre-
ceding series.
