(ii) Maintain and circulate a list of qualified officials.
(iii) Watch officials and would-be officials and to help and coach
them in every possible way.
(iv) Members to recommend Referees and judges for quali-
fication, and Referees for up-grading.
(c) The following may be qualified as Judges :—
(i) Successful students at Officers P.T. Courses and at Boxing
Courses at the A.S.P.T., Aldershot.
(ii) Subject to approval by a quorum of the Sub-Committee,
successful students at appropriate P.T. Courses held at
Command Schools at home and overseas.
(iii) Subject to approval by a quorum of the Sub-Committee,
any individual recommended by at least one member of
the Sub-Committee.
(d) (i) Referees can only learn by practice and experience and
cannot, therefore, qualify as Referees on Courses mentioned
in sub-para. (c).
(ii) The classification of Referees will be as follows, each
class being qualified to referee in the Competitions shown :
Class I
Army Inter-Unit Semi-finals and Finals,
and Army and I.S.B.A. Championships.
Class II
Command Championships, Preliminary
rounds of Army Inter-Unit Competitions
and the first series of the Army Champion-
ships.
Class III
Unit Competitions and Inter-Unit Com-
petitions other than those mentioned above.
(iii) Subject to approval by a quorum of the Sub-Committee,
any qualified judge recommended by at least one member
of the Sub-Committee may be qualified as a Referee. All
Referees will be graded on qualification as Grade III.
(e) Recommendations for qualification as officials will be made
on the appropriate proforma, copies of which may be obtained from
Command representatives or from the Hon. Secretary of the Associa-
tion.
(f) The rank qualifications are as follows :—
Referees Officers. only.
Judges Officers and Warrant Officers of any arm,
Sergeants of the Army Physical Training
Corps.
(g) Qualified officials should take every opportunity to Referee
and Judge, so as to gain experience.
15. Definition of an Amateur
An Amateur is one who has never competed for a money prize,
staked bet or declared wager; who has not competed with or against
a professional for any prize (except with the express sanction of
the Amateur Boxing Association) ; and who has never taught,
