OTE.—
Whenever a foul is called on the opponent
of
a player who,
as part
of
a continuous motion which started before the foul occurred,
succeeds in making a field goal, the goal shall count even
if
the ball
leaves the player's hands after the whistle blows, provided the whistle
did not affect the play. The player must be throwing for goal or starting
an effort to throw for goal when the whistle blows ; the goal does not
count
if
he makes an entirely new effort after the whistle blows.
95. Right to Decline Free Throw
Section 8. The offended Captain, in the last three minutes of
play in the second half and during all extra periods, may decline
a free throw for a personal foul unless it is tb be followed by another
free throw or is to be followed by a jump ball at centre (on a double
foul). If he declines the free throw, the ball shall be thrown in from
out of bounds at mid-court by any player of his team. A free throw
for a technical foul may not be waived.

The Amateur Basket Ball Association of England and Wales
have approved the following variation :
Where it is impracticable to use a backboard of the stated size
it is permissible to use a backboard rectangular in shape, measuring
3 ft. 6 ins. horizontally and

ft. 3 ins. vertically with the ring 3 ins.
above its lower edge.
