By taking part in any competition or exhibition with anyone
who, to his knowledge, is not an Amateur according to the Rule of
the 'National Federation concerned, except when in the Services,
and then only in Service competitions.
3. By
acceptance of a reimbursement for board or travelling
expenses in excess of the justified amount by which the swimmer
is actually out of pocket.

By betting on any swimming competition.
5.
By
realising or otherwise turning into cash any prize won in
sport.
6. By engaging for remuneration, direct or indirect, in the duties
of a bath or surf bathing attendant or life-guard. Life-guards em-
ployed by State or municipally= controlled or private beaches or
pools shall be ineligible to compete as Amateurs while engaged in
such positions, but may be reinstated to full Amateur standing
ninety days after retiring from such position.
7. By capitalising his athletic fame,
i.e., (a)
granting or sanctioning
the use of his name to promote the sale of goods or apparatus of any
kind;
(b)
accepting direct or indirect compensation or consideration
for using the goods or apparatus as aforesaid ; (c) engaging for pay
or for financial benefit in any occupation or business transaction
wherein his usefulness or value arises chiefly from the publicity given
to the reputation or fame which he has secured from his per-
formances in sport rather than from his ability to perform the usual
and natural acts and duties incidental to such occupation or trans-
action.

Accepting remuneration for
(I)
attaching his name to
press contributions which he has not himself -written, or
(2)
for
participating in the production of a film unless a recognised film
actor, would be regarded as coming within the scope of the above
rule.
8. By accepting, directly or indirectly, any payment or considera-
tion for loss of time or rages in attending or training for any
swimming
competition.
A professional in any athletic sport as hereunder shall be con-
sidered a professional in swimming :
Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Bowling, Boxing, Cricket,
Cycling, Fencing, Football, Golf,' Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey,
Lacrosse, Lawn and Court Tennis, Rowing, Shooting, Skating,
Ski-ing, Sailing, Weight-lifting, Wrestling.
The Amateur Status of a swimmer shall not be endangered:
(a) If, while engaged by an Education Authority in teaching
ordinary scholastic subjects, as part of his duties, he also teaches
elementary swimming (not including coaching for competitions) to
the pupils of colleges, schools or evening school classes without
additional remuneration.
