Artificial Light
The electric light fittings should not be less than zo ft. above the
floor. No standard has been laid down regarding the number of
points or foot-candles.
The Doubles Court at St. John's Wood Squash Club, London,
N.W.8, which is the first standard court to be erected in the country,
can be taken as a good guide, as. regards planning, finishings and
lighting.

All lines to be i in. wide and painted red.
SQUASH LADDER COMPETITIONS
Rules
z. Any Member not on the Ladder at the commencement of the
Competition may join at any time by •applying to the Secretary.
Newcomers will be placed at the bottom of such Divisions as the
Committee may decide.
z. Once on the Ladder a Member may endeavour to climb by
playing a match with the Member immediately above and reporting
the result. If the challenger wins, positions with the defender on
the Ladder are reversed.
3.
MEN'S MATCHES
are to be the best of five games and
WOMEN'S MATCHES
the best of three games, all played level.
The results are to be placed in the Result Box on the form provided.
The
full
score of each game must be entered on the form.
In the event
of the match being unconcluded at the end of the half-hour, it shall
be replayed, unless the Court be not booked for the following half
hour, when the match must be concluded* (and a proportionate
charge will be made). Should the match remain unconcluded at the
end of two consecutive attempts, the Court must then be booked for
an hour, in order to arrive at a decision.
4.
The loser of a match may not challenge the winner for a period of
seven days, unless meanwhile they meet in a different position on the
Ladder.
5. Except as provided in
Rule 6,
challenges are to be made through
the Secretary by filling up one of the Forms provided and putting it
in the Challenge Box. The Secretary will date and record it and
post a notice on the Board.
6.
If
(a)
both players are in the .Club when the challenge is made
and (b) neither is concerned in any other challenge, and (c) they will
play the match at once, the challenge form may be dispensed with
and the result only put in the box.
7.
The challenger will be given a walk-over and the defender will lose
his position
if
the match is not played within seven days from the date
the challenge is found in the Box.
There can be no exception to this
*To be omitted when no charge is made for the court.
