Target
Ito.
The target consists of the whole of the body from the feet
to the mask, inclusive.
Hits
121.
A hit is a point delivered cleanly on -the target with force
sufficiently to have inflicted a wound on the body unprotected by
clothing.
Validity
of Hits
1.22.
In
Epee
there are no conventions as to attack and defence,
and no preference is given to the original attacker as in other
weapons. When both competitors are touched, and unless one hit
arrived manifestly before the other, a hit will be scored against both.
Corps-a-Corps
123.
In Epee fencing there is no penalty for causing a corps-a-
corps and a fencer who does so even repeatedly is not liable to any
penalty, unless by vigorous tactics such as a fleche attack which
cannot avoid causing a corps-a-crops or which ends beyond his
opponent's position and co-lstitates a danger to his opponent* or
himself. Referees are particularly asked to warn violent fencers
and thereafter penalise with hits against or disqualification.
Time Limit
124.
There will be a time limit of

o minutes for each bout.
If at the end of the time limit neither competitor has scored two
hits, the bout will be awarded to the competitor who is leading,
and one hit will be added to the score of each. If the competitors
are equal in hits the bout will be a draw and the maximum number
of hits will be scored against both. Competitors will be warned
when eight minutes and again when nine minutes have elapsed.

COMBATS
Dress and Gear.
125.
The combatants must wear regulation helmets, jackets,
sporrans and gloves on both hands.
The spring Bayonets, gloves, etc., used in a fight must be of the
same pattern.
Combatants must swear distinguishing armlets, numbered
1-18.
Duration
of
Bouts
126.
The rules of the actual fighting will be the same as those
laid down for Bayonet v. Bayonet. In each fight the combatant
who first gains three decisive hits shall be declared the winner.
