WAR OFFICE INSTRUCTIONS.
the purpose of carrying stores, troops or their families in connec-
tion with recreational and military functions (e.g., rifle meetings,
sports and horse shows) and for the maintenance of recreation
grounds provided under R.E.S. (1930), Part I, paras. 72 and 74.

Postage and Stationery.
16. The cost of these items incurred by Commands and Units
in connection with Army Sports is not chargeable to Army Funds.

Travelling Expenses, Members Attending Meetings.
17. See para. 15, " Instructions Relating to the Conveyance of
Army Personnel and Baggage " (notified in Army Orders for
December, 1934).
Sunday Games.
18. Sunday games may be permitted with the following
reservations :—
Within the scope of the rules of the parent bodies, and provided
there is no play before 1.30 p.m., friendly games may be played
on Sunday.
Tournaments or cup, etc., competitions should not be permitted.
This ruling does not apply to stations abroad, where the
question of games is subject to local conditions.
Territorial Army: use of W.D. Land for Recreation.
19. Para. 907a, T.A. Regs., 1929, and para. 181, R.E.S. (Part
1),
authorise W.D. land to be used free of rent by T.A.
Units for
recreation, provided the land is not required for other military or
naval purposes.
Annual Return of Grounds.
20. An annual return, in triplicate, of all recreation grounds and
pavilions will be rendered to the War Office. (W.O.

Compensation for Death or Injuries in Military
Sports or Games.
