(h) The delaying and stopping of the game when a player goes
down with a slight injury, and the appearance on the field of
trainers, etc., to be avoided at all costs. It should be a point of
lionour with every boy to show a spirit of manliness and conse-
quently to get up unaided and to continue playing as soon as
possible.
(j) Leaving the field of play at half-time should be discouraged.
(k) The old custom of teams cheering each other at the
conclusion of the game should be encouraged.
4.—Eligibility.
(a) The competition will be open to the Enlisted Boys of 'all
units of the Regular Army. Each member of a team must be a
bona-fide boy and enlisted as such. A boy who is under 1S years
of age on the 1st October will be permitted to play as a boy in
the competition throughout the remainder of the current season.
(b) rhe competition will be divided into two sections—
(i) Section A—Units with an authorised establishment not
exceeding 25;
(ii) Section B—Units with an authorised establishment
exceeding 25.
(c) Every unit which has Enlisted Boys on its establishment is
entitled to enter a team or teams, the definition of a unit being
the same as for the Army Cup Competition (except as provided
in Rule 4 (d) ).
(d) Depots and Establishments, where there are large numbers
of boys, will be split up into groups to equalise the chances of all
teams. A group will consist of not more than 20 to 25, and each
group will be entitled to enter a team.
The boys will be divided into groups either:—
(i) Alphabetically or
(ii) In the case of units where boys are grouped by Squads or
Divisions they may be entered by these Squads or Divisions.
In the case of (i), nominal rolls commencing at " A " and
running through the alphabet will be prepared and the total
number will be divided into groups, commencing at the letter
(A), followed by (B), (C), etc. The first 20 to 25 names will
constitute the first group, and the second 20 to 25 names the
second, and so on.
In the case of (ii), no sub-division will be necessary except where
the squads or divisions exceed 30 in number, when an alphabetical
roll of the squads or divisions will be prepared and the first 20 to
25 names on the roll will constitute the first group, the second 20
to 25 names the second, and so on.
Where the number of boys on strength exceeds a multiple of 20,
the number may be divided by the nearest multiple over 20,
provided that in no case shall a group exceed 25 in number.
No alterations or additions to the rolls will be permitted after
the date on which entries for the competition are made, except that
the following casualties may be replaced :—
A casualty caused by (i) Death.
(ii) Discharge.
(iii) Transfer to another unit.
