| Description | Soldiers standing round a grave listening to a uniformed man, possibly an army chaplain, reading from a small book. All of the men have removed their hats as a sign of respect. It is a sad and sombre occasion, and the faces of the men reflect this. The ground over the grave is uneven and covered with rubble. There are a number of wooden crosses visible, marking the graves of others soldiers. In the foreground a stretcher lies alongside the grave. ANZAC is an acronym for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The Anzacs were first formed, in 1914, by the joining of the Australian Imperial Force with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force whilst both forces were training in Egypt.
