| Description | The grey-haired man in the right foreground is HRH Arthur, Duke of Connaught (1850-1942) who is reviewing a line of heavy horse-drawn artillery. The nearest gun appears to be short-barrelled and it likely to be a Howitzer. These were developed during the war as a long-distance field gun which was light enough to be moved over muddy ground. Each of the guns has an eight-man team. Two men ride, each controlling a pair of horses, while the remaining eight men walking behind are probably the firing crew.
