| Description | King George V and his entourage arriving at a sports day organised for Australian soldiers. He can be seen at the front of the photograph, on the left, carrying his customary cane. To his left a long line of Australian troops, recognisable by their distinctive hats, are lined up to greet him. Photographs of royal visits and recreational activities at the Front were often used by the Government and Military as propaganda. The intention was to boost morale and provide those at home with a sanitised version of life at the Front. [Original reads: ' 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT.
