THEY haste away so fine and gay,
All classes are in tune,
To open Smithfield Market
In the glorious month of June ;
Prince Albert and the Nobles
So gallant, brave and gay,
To the New Smithfield Market
So jovially haste away.

All London and the country
You see are all alive,
Upon this Thirteenth Day of June,
Eighteen hundred and fifty-five.

There is the Lord Mayor and Aldermen,
And all the men of Law,
There is Whittington, Wat Tyler,
Richard Walworth, and Jack Straw ;
And the ghost of Old Brown's salt box,
Upon that glorious day.
Here's the New Smithfield Market,
Huzza ! my lads, huzza.

The farmers and the graziers
To Smithfield will draw near,
From Sunderland, Northumberland,
From York, and Lincolnshire,
And every part of England
Upon this glorious day ;
Here's beef and mutton a penny a pound,
Huzza ! my lads, huzza.

See off she goes, get off my toes !
I say old covey, stop.
Oh, bless my eyes, here's rhubard pies,
And tunning ginger pop.
Here's Battle Bridge, with three times three
Let Britons gaily sing,
And God bless every woman,
Who likes a little drop of gin.

See all alive they push and drive,
Prince Albert onward goes ;
I say, old man, you'll understand,
That's my old woman's toes ;
So mind old flick, or you'll get licked,
I will touch you on the ridge,
This is Copenhagen Fields,
And that is Battle Bridge.

Move on ! I say, and clear the way,
New Smithfield is the law,
We will drink to Old Brown's salt box,
Wat Tyler, and Jack Straw.
Here's a health unto Prince Albert,

Come let us drag Old Smithfield
