         MY Nannie O

J. Pitts, Printer 14, Great St. Andrew
               street, 7 Dials,

BEHIND you hills where Lugars flows,
'Mang moons an' mosses many O.
The wintry sun the day has clos'd,
An' I'll awa' to Nannie, O.
The westlin wind blaws loud and shrill,
The night's baith mirk and rainy O,
But I'll get my plaid an' out I'll steal,
An' owre the hill to Nannie, O.

My Nannie's charming fair and young
Nae artful wiles to win ye O,
May ill befal the flattering tongue,
That wad beguile my Nannie, O ;
Her face is fair, her heart is true,
As spotless as she's bonny, O.
The Opining gown wat wi' flew,
Nae, purer is than Nannie, O.

A county lad is my degree,
And few there be that ken me, O
But what care I now few there be,
I'm welcome to my Nannie, O.
My riches a my penny fee,
An I maun guide it cannie, O.
But warl s gear ne'er troubles me,
My thoughts are a' my Nannie, O.

Our auld gude man delights to view,
His sheep an' kine thrive bonny O,
But I'm as blithe that hands the plough,
An' has nae care but Nannie, O.
Come weel come woe I carena by
I tak' what heaven will send me, O.
Nae either care in life hae I,
But live and love my Nannie, O.
