Description | A small selection of medieval manuscripts dating from the 14th to the 16th centuries. Several were produced in Scotland, while others were commissioned by prominent Scots. Subjects include religious and liturgical texts, music, poetry and history. Highlights are medieval Scots poetry in 'The Brus' and the Bannatyne Manuscript, and a rare complete liturgy in the Sweetheart Breviary. Also the richly illuminated Blackadder Prayerbook and Dean Brown's Book of Hours. |
