Late 15th-century manuscript containing 'Moralium dogma philosophorum' attributed to Guillaume de Conches, bound with 3 incunabula
DescriptionThe manuscript was produced in Italy. The script and watermark evidence suggest that the manuscript is a work of the late 15th century, probably 1470 and after. The manuscript is the work of one scribe using an Italian humanistic script. It is bound with three incunabula that have been catalogued in detail in the National Library of Scotland's online catalogue. They are: Cicero, 'Liber de proprietatibus terminorum Ciceronis'. Cologne (U. Zel). circa 1470 [shelfmark: Inc.31]; Agostino Dati, 'De variis loquendi regulis'. And Guarino of Verona, 'Praecepta de studendi ordine'. Cologne (U. Zel). circa 1470, [shelfmark: Inc.33]; Agostino Dati, 'De variis loquendi figuris'. Cologne (U. Zel). circa 1470 [shelfmark: Inc.32].

Medieval and early modern manuscripts
DescriptionA selection of over 200 volumes of medieval and early modern manuscripts, dating from the 9th to the 17th century. Some of Scotland's most important early manuscripts are included in the many Scottish volumes. These are complemented by interesting and significant works of international origin, including volumes from France, England, the Low Countries, Italy and a number of other countries. Most of the manuscripts were collected by the Advocates Library, the forerunner of the National Library of Scotland.
