Paisley Rental Book
DescriptionManuscript rental book for Paisley Abbey, written in Scotland, containing statistical information and a series of individual rentals from the period 1460 to 1550, with a later marginal addition of 1555. There are many hands evident throughout the manuscript. Some of the headings are written in a bookhand; however, the rest of the work is written cursive hands, at times difficult to read. There are also many alterations and deletions as rentals were updated, and occasionally entire paragraphs are deleted. The volume contains no decoration; however, on folio 110v is a contemporary plain pen drawing of a head.

Manuscripts from Scotland
Medieval and early modern manuscripts
DescriptionA selection of over 200 volumes of medieval and early modern manuscripts, dating from the 9th to the 17th century. Some of Scotland's most important early manuscripts are included in the many Scottish volumes. These are complemented by interesting and significant works of international origin, including volumes from France, England, the Low Countries, Italy and a number of other countries. Most of the manuscripts were collected by the Advocates Library, the forerunner of the National Library of Scotland.
