THE SCOTTISH EQUITABLE is a Purely Mutual Office. There are no Shareholders
to absorb any portion of the Profits, which are wholly divided among tbe holders
of Participating Policies at intervals of Five Years. Its leading features are — rnquestiou-
ahle Security.; Liberal Conditions of Insurance, and Early Participation in Profits.
NEW NON-FORFEITURE REGULATIONS.
The iDrinciiDle of Nou-Forfeitm-.e has recently been adopted by this Society to its fullest extent, so
that when a Policy has acquired a surrender value (generally after pajTiient of three years' premiums),
that value will not be forfeited by faihue to pay the premium, but, if not paid to the Policy-holder iu
cash, will be api^lied to keep the Policy in force, under certain conditions, either temporai'ily for its
full amount until the value is wholly exhausted, or permanently for a reduced amoimt.
POSITION OF THE SOCIETY AT 1st MARCH 1885.
The Existing Assurances, including Bonus Additions, were £9,686,833
The Annual Revenue was 366,974
And the Accumulated Funds were 2,821,174
The Accumulated Fund is 11-2 times the premiums of the year, and is 31-0 per cent, of the
existing assurances after deduction of the re-insurances of £579,400. ,,
The Premiums on Whole-Life Policies are now calculated by half-j'ears of age, so that those who.-'
insure within six months after a birthday will be charged a lower rate of premium than hitherto. jj
Most of the Policies after Five Years' endurance are freed from all conditions, except the pay-'^
ment of the Ordinary Premimn.
Settlement Policies, with special advantages, are granted under the ' Married Women's
Policies of Assurance (Scotland) Act, 1880,' free from all claims of creditors in the event of
sxibseqixent insolvency.
Loans granted in connection with life insurance, on Life Interests, Reversions, and other '
approved security. Pieversions purchased.
