MUTUAIi ASSURANCE WITH MODERATE PREMIUMS,
SCOTTISH Provident
Institution.
6 ST. ANDREW SQUARE, EDINBURGH.
1 HIS SOCIETY differs in its principles from other Offices.
Instead of charging Rates higher than are necessary, and returning the excess in the shape
..;f periodical Bonuses, it gives from the first as large an Assurance as the Premiums will with
afety bear— reserving the Whole Surplus for those Members (a majority of the whole) who have
'ived long enough to secure the Common Fund from loss.
A Policy for ;^i20o to ;£i2So may thus at most ages be had for the Premium usually charged for (with Profits)
;^iooo only; while, by reserving the Surplus, large additions have been given — and may be expected in
the future— on the Policies of those who participate. At last Division of Profits, Policies for ;£iooo
sharing a first time were increased to sums varying from ;i^ii8o to ;^I300 or more, and others to ;Si4'^o,
;ti700, and upwards.

* Thus, a person of 30 may secure ;fiooo at Death by a yearly payment, during life, of Z'20, 15s. Thi.<;
'remium in any other of the Scottish Mutual Offices would secure £800 only, instead of £1000.
OR, if unwilling to burden himself with payments during whole life, he may secure the same ;£iooo by hvenfy-
ne yearly payments of ^1^27, 13s. 4d. — being thus free of payment after age 50.
The NEW BUSINESS (entirely Home) has for many years exceeded a Million.
The Expenses are much under those of any Office doing so large a New Business.
The ACCUMULATED FUND is now upwards of ;^S,300,ooo.
Only Two Offices in the Kingdom (both older) have as large a Fund.
THE CONDITIONS OF ASSURANCE, recently revised, ARE UNUSUALLY LIBERAL.
Policies are generally now free from restriction on residence after Five Years, and
inchallengeable on any ground but fraud ; while under the Society's Non- Forfeiture Regula-
:ions there is no risk of a valuable Policy being forfeited through an accidental omission to pay
he Premium.
Claims payable on proper title One Month after proof of Death, which is in most cases
equivalent to Immediate Payment.
