The Library Hall, igo feet long by 50 wide, is a noble room,
lit by electric light ; in 1898 it was repainted and decorated
at a cost of ;^i,ooo, gifted by Sir William Priestley m.p.
and is adorned by a large number of busts of late professors
of the University.
The University Union, a home for students, is a building
exhibiting in an effective manner the features of French,
Scottish and English Gothic, from designs by Messrs. Sidney
Mitchell and Watson, and has flanking turrets with conical
roof, large oriel windows and stepped gables.
