REDGORTON parish is in the small debt
court district of Perth, and is on the west
bank of the Tay and the north side of the
Almond, 1 mile from Luncarty station on
the Perth and Blair Atholl section of the
Caledonian railway, and about 4 miles north-
west from Perth. By the "Local Govern-
ment (Scotland) Act, 1889 " (52 and 53
Vict. c. 50, sections 44 to 50), boundary
order "j8, a part of Redgorton parish, witn
a population of 25, has been annexed to
Monzie parish. Battleby, the residence of
Archibald Coates esq, is the' property of
James Maxton Graham esq. who is the
principal landowner. The area of the parish
is 4,746 acres; rateable value, £10,574 4s. ;
population of the civil parish in 1891,
1,369, and in 1901, 1,439, and 1,077 in the
Pitcairn Green is a village in this parish,
on the north bank of the Almond, about 4£
I miles north-west from Perth. At Pitoairn-
field and Cromwell park are extensive
bleach works. Almond Bank is the nearest
station, about 1£ miles distant, on the
Caledonian Railway.
At Luncarty is an extensive bleachfield
and a station on the Perth and Blair Atholl
section of the Caledonian railway.
