BANCHOEY-DEVENICK parish
lies on the south side of the river Dee, near
its confluence with the sea, in Kincardine-
shire poor combination. The parish, which
is for the most part rugged, heathy and
stony, extends about 2 miles along the
river, with one extremity bounded by the
sea. The parish church, on the south side
of the Dee, is distant about 4 miles south-
west from Aberdeen. The nearest railway
station is Cults, on the Deeside branch of
the Great North of Scotland railway. The
area of the parish is about 7,739 acres;
rateable value (including the quoad sacra
parish of Portlethen), £13,720; the popula-
tion in 1891 was 1,981, and in 1901, 1.726.

BANCHORYTERNAN is a parish
on the banks of the Dee, in Kincardineshire
poor combination and Stonehaven email
debt court district. It i3 bounded by Durris
on the east, Kincardine O'Neil on the west,
Midmar on the north and Strachan on the
south. The river Dee is here crossed hv
an iron truss bridge (1789-1829) of 175
feet span, and three stone arches. The
village of Banchory, which was founded
in 1805, stands on the north side of the Dee,
18 miles south-west of Aberdeen. In 1885
it became a burgh by adopting the police
Act of 1862, and is governed by nine com-
missioners, with the U3ual officials under
the Act. The Deeside branch of the Great
North of Scotland railway runs through the
parish and has a station about half-a-mile
from the town. The parish church, which
