PREFACE
The present issue of the Directory of Scotland is the third one pro-
duced jointly by Slater's Directory, Limited, and Kelly's Directories,
Limited, in accordance with a working arrangement between these
Companies.
Under each County the several Parishes, Towns and principal Villages
have been arranged in strict Alphabetical order, for facility of reference,
and the names of the Magistrates, the Members of the County Councils,
the County Officers, &c, have been given.
Separate sections are devoted to the Cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow,
with a Street Directory in each case.
A complete Index to Places is prefixed to the Book, and a further
feature is the list of " Principal Seats," with references to the pages on
which they are to be found, and the Names of their Occupiers.
The Map of Scotland has been corrected for this Edition, so as 'to
bring it fully up to date.
