Clachan of Campsie, and 6 east from Killeam, There are the ex-
tensive calico printing works of the Blanefield Printing Company
situated in the valley. About one mile to the west are the ruins of
Duntreath Castle, and two miles south-east are the ruins of Jlu;'-
dock Castle, the property of the Duke of Montrose. Acreage, 9,0(3b;
population in 1881, 1,343.
Milton (or Milton of Campsie, as it is generally called) is a small
village situated two miles east of Lennoxtown, in the parish of
Caiupsie. There are two printworks in the neighbourhood. The
village contains a public school, and there is a station on tho
Campsie branch railway. Population in ld81,555.
and 7 in deptb. In the surrounding grounds the roots and b tumps
of oak trees have been dug up, and there can be no doubt of this
spot having once been a Druidic grove and place of sacrifice.
Acreage of the parish. 4 322; population in 1881, 5(39.
Strathblane parish, as its name implies, composes the valo of
the river Bhine, which pursues u, north-western course through it;
the land of the valley is exceedingly fertile, and is embellished by
several neat villas, while the hills are clothed with natural woods.
The parish lies iu the south-west coiner of the county, and is
hounded on the east by the parish of Campsie; on the south by
Baldernock and East Kilputric.K ; and on the west and north by
Killearn. The village of Strathblane is 3^ miles west from the
