GLASGOW, STIRLINGSHIRE & SONS OF THE ROCK SOCIETY
The Stirlingshire Charitable Society was instituted on the 16th
Jauuary, 1809. The Sons of the Rock Society was instituted on 16th
Januarv, 3855. Both societies were amalgamated on 16th Janu-
ary, 1871, and the principal objects of the society are— (1) Affording
reiief to persons in need, who are natives of Stirlingshire, or their
children resident in Glasgow or the neighbourhood ; or to natives of
the shire travelling through the city, and unexpectedly falling into
distress ; and (2) promoting the education of the young of the town
of Stirling and the neighbourhood by the foundation of bursaries
or otherwise. Members are admitted on payment of live guineas,
either in ore sum, or by instalments of £2 2s. on application, and
three yearly instalments of £1 Is. each.
