These Pensions were instituted by the late Dr. John Robertson
Sibbald, of Edinburgh,M.D., f.e.c.s.e., and may be bestowed
on persons, male or female— natives of Scotland— labouring
under incurable disease, incapable of gaining a livelihood,
and dependent, wholly or partially, on others -, a prefer-
ence being given to persons who, as regards social position,
have seen better days [Queen at
