In presenting another Edition (the Tenth) of the DIRECTORY
OF SCOTLAND to his Subscribers, the Proprietor and Publisher
(ISAAC SLATER) is desirous of acknowledging the very cordial
and substantial support which he has again received at the
hands of the general public.
As on previous occasions, the utmost care has been exercised in
order to make the Directory as comprehensive, complete, and
accurate as possible, and the Proprietor believes that the present
volume will be found to fully maintain the reputation of its many
predecessors'.
The Proprietor cannot allow this opportunity to pass without
recording his indebtedness to the many gentlemen who have
exhibited an interest in the work, and who, during its
compilation, have supplied valuable information or aided his
Agents in obtaining it, and to all such he now renders
his grateful thanks.
