Proof of the expansion of the business exhibited in the one following fact-— that the
increase alone of the last three years exceeds the entire business of some of the existing, and
ol many of the recently defunct Fire Insurance Companies of this Kingdom.
The Premiums for the Year 1855 being £130,060
Ditto 1858 „ £196,148
Whilst for the Year 1859 they are £220,000
The amount of new Life Premiums received this year (185°) is by far the largest received
.n any similar period since the commencement of the bu^incs, and must far exceed ti
average ot amount received by the most successful Offices in the Kingdom. Thus,

The London "Times" Money Article, August 6, 1859, says— "The Premiums received
in the Fire Department amouuiud'to t'i%\i48, showing an increase of <£6{i,U88, OR MORE
THAN 50 PER CENT.
The "TiMfcs."— I he City article of the 4ih .'uly. 185fi, sta'es that " the transactions of the Royal
Insurance Company appear to have been of a perfectly satisfactory character "
Article in the "TSMfcS" ofthe 6th nugust, 1859.— ' Atthe Annual Meeting of the Royal
Insurance Company yesterday, a Dividend of 3s and a Uonus of 4s per share were declared, tree of income
tax, and £30,000., biing the amount ot undivided profit', was carried to the Reseive Kund now raised to
£140,850 In ihe Lite i'epannient 832 new Policies were issued in the year, assuring £3S7,/52., upon
which £12,354 was received in new pri iniums."
The " Eiiinbukgh Evening Post,' August 1", 1859. — " Institutions conducted on the sound and en-
Mghtened principles which govern the management ofthe Hoyal Company have a sure foundation for a wide
and progressive increase of productive business."
" Glasgow Kef kmeks' (iazette," September 10, 1859.—" We notice, from the Report of the Royal
Insurance Company, lat- ly published, that the affairs i»t the Company are in the most flomis' ing condition.'
" Alter m shike Hf.hald," .-eptem'er 2, 1859.—" 'I he success ot this Company has been unparalleled
in the annals ot such Institutions, from its very formation it has continued to prosper in a mannej
remarkably rapid and continuous."
