QLAMIS.
FORFARSHIRE,
about four in length and three in breadth, bonnded on the east and

The land to some extent is quite flat, much of wbich affords excel-
lent pasturage for sheep and cattle. The Scottish North-Eastern
Section of the Caledonian Railway Co. passes through the parish,
joining the Dundee and Coupir-Angus about a mile north of New-
tyle. The parish church, a neat building, was erected in 1S3S. In
the old manse stands a portion of an old Roman Cathohc Chapel^the
graveyard adjoining being very remarkable on account of its grave-
stones being engraved in old Roman letters. Acreage, 5,053;
population of the joint parish in 1871, 586
TON is a small village in the parish. CharL-eton and Glen of
Ogilvie abound with very valuable stone, two large quarries being
at the present time in work. The station at Glamts is situated
about one aud a half miles from the village, and is on the Perth and
Aberdeen Section of the Caledonian Railway Company. Fairs are
held on the first Wednesday in April, first Wednesday in May, first
Wednesday after the 26th of May, first Saturday alter the USth of
October, and first Wednesday after the 22nd of November. Acreage,
14,347. In 1871 the parish had a population of 1,813 ; jtho village con-
taining 375.
Eassie and Nevay is a joint parish three miles west from Gla-
mis, seven from Forfar, and seven south-west from Kirriemuir,
