J.S a parish and small town- the latter nearly two miles from
Auchtermuchty, eight from Kinross, and a station on the Fife and
Kinross Branch of the North British Railway, which runs close by
the town, distant about seven miles from Ladybank junction on the
Edinburgh, Perth, and Dundee branch, and about seven miles by
road, situated in a pleasant plain, and on the north bank of the

projects a stone pillar which formerly served" "as a sun dial, now
much defaced; above this are the arms of tlie house of Burleigh.
By charter in 1600, the detached portions of Feus were erected into
a burgh of barony, and this grant was confirmed by James VI., in
1605, but the nomination of bailies and admittance of burgesses
years a village has been built on the opposite side of the Miglo,
called the Feus of Cash, and latterly two new streets have been
formed, called Russell and Skene streets. Between the old town
and this new village is a beautiful square and level meadow,
called Town-green, intersected by the Miglo, and belonging to tho
burgh. The manufacture of linen is carried on to a considerable
extent, and there is an extensive bleach works. The places of
worship are a church of the Establishment, two Free churches, an
