CITY AND ROYAL BURGH OF GLASGOW.
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF NEW WARDS.
I. Ward, Dalmarnock. — That portion of the City
comprehended within a line drawn from the centre of
Bridgeton Cross southwards along the middle of
Main Street and Rutherglen Bridge to a point where
the middle line of said bridge intersects the middle
line of the River Clyde ; thence tip the middle of the
River Clyde to a point in the Municipal boundary of
the City where it strikes off from the River Clyde
opposite the south-eastern boundary of Westthorn
Waterworks ; thence north-eastwards along the said
boundary line to the middle of London Road ; thence
westwards along the middle of London Road to the
centre of Bridgeton Cross, the point first before
described.
II. Ward, Calton. — That portion of the City com-
prehended within a line drawn from the centre of the
Cross of Glasgow southwards along the middle of
Saltmarket and Albert Bridge to a point where the
middle line of said bridge intersects the middle line
of the River Clyde ; thence up the middle line of the
River Clyde to a jjoint where the same is intersected
by the middle line of Rutherglen Bridge ; thence
northwards along the middle of said bridge and Main
Street to the centre of Bridgeton Cross ; thence west-
wards along the middle of Canning Street to a point
opposite the middle of Clyde Street; thence north-
wards along the middle of Clyde Street and Aber-
cromby Street to a point in the middle of Gallowgate;
thence westwards along the middle of Gallowgate till
it reaches the centre of the Cross of Glasgow, the
point first before described.
III. Ward, Mile-end. — That portion of the City
comprehended within a line drawn from a point in the
middle of Gallowgate opposite the middle of Aber-
cromby Street, southwards along the middle of Aber-
cromby and Clyde Streets to the middle of Canning
Street; thence eastwards along the middle of Canning
Street and London Road to the Municipal boundary ;
thence northwards, westwards, north-eastwards, and
north-westwards along the said boundary to a point
in the middle of Carntyne Road ; thence south-west-
wards along the middle of Carntyne Road to a point
opposite the middle of New Road; thence south-
eastwards and southwards along the middle of New
Road to the centre of Parkhead Cross ; thence west-
wards along the middle of Great Eastern Road and
Gallowgate to a point opposite the middle of Aber-
cromby Street, the point first before described.
IV. Ward, Whitevale. — That portion of the City
comprehended within a line drawn from a point in the
middle of High Street opposite the middle of Duke
Street, southwards along the middle of High Street
to the centre of the Cross of Glasgow ; thence east-
wards along the middle of Gallowgate and Great
Eastern Road to the centre of Parkhead Cross; thence
northwards and north-westwards along the middle
of New Road to the middle of Duke Su - eet ; thence
westwards along the middle of Duke Street to the
middle of High Street at the point first before described.
V. Ward, Dennistoun. — That portion of the City
comprehended within a line drawn from a point in the
middle line of Castle Street where the same is inter-
sected by the middle line of the Monkland Canal,
southwards along the middle of Castle Street and
High Street to a point opposite the middle of Doke
Street ; thence eastwards along the middle of Duke-
Street and Carntyne Road to the Municipal boundary;
thence north-westwards, northwards, eastwards, and
northwards along the said boundary till it reaches
the middle of Monkland Canal ; thence westwards
and north- westwards along the middle of said canal
to the middle of Castle Street at the point first before
described.
VI. Ward, Springburn. — That portion of the City
comprehended within a line drawn from a point in the
middle line of Castle Street where the same is inter-
sected by the middle line of the Monkland Canal,
south-eastwards, eastwards, and north - eastwards-
along the middle of said canal to the Municipal
boundary; thence northwards, westwards, north-
westwards, and westwards along said boundary to
the middle of Inchbt-lly Road ; thence southwards
along the middle of Inchbclly Road, Springburn Road,
and Castle Street to the middle of the Monkland
Canal at the point first before described.
VII. Ward, Cowlairs. — That portion of the City
comprehended within a line drawn from a point in the
middle line of Castle Street where the same is inter-
sected by the middle line of the Port-Dundas and
Monkland Canal, northwards along the middle lines
of Castle Street, Springburn Road, and Inchbelly
Road to the Municipal boundary; thence westwards
southwards, and westwards along the said boundary
to the middle of the Hamilton Hill Branch Line of
Railway; thence southwards along the middle line
of the said railway till it is intersected by the Parlia-
mentary boundary of the City; thence eastwards
along the said boundary to the middle of Saracen
Street ; thence southwards along the middle of
Saracen Street, Craighall Road, and Lower Craighal}
Road to the middle of said canal opposite the middle
of Ann Street ; thence eastwards, southwards, south-
westwards, and eastwards along the middle of said
canal till it reaches the middle of Castle Street at the
point first before described.
VIII. Ward, Townhead. — That portion of th»
City comprehended within a line drawn from a point in
the middle of Castle Street opposite the middle of Rot-
tenrow, northwards along the middle of Castle Street
to the middle of the Port-Dundas and Monkland
Canal ; thence westwards, north-eastwards, north
wards, and westwards along the middle of said can
to a point opposite the middle of the stair leading
from Canal Bank to Port-Dundas Road; thence
southwards along the middle of said stair and of
Port-Dundas Road and Buchanan Street to a point
opposite the middle of Cathedral Street; thence east-
wards along the middle of Cathedral Street to the
