Vessels employed in the river Tay carrying goods, entering
the precincts of the port or harbour of Dundee, 1|
Where vessels are not registered at the port of Dundee, it shall be
in the option of the Commissioners to charge either the tonnage-dues
on the voyage inwards or outwards, at the rates specified in the sche-
dule, according to the distance ; and if the charge be made on the
outward voyage, there shall be deducted from it the amount of the
duties that may have been previously paid on the inwards. But if
such vessels sail in ballast, they shall be charged with dues on the
inward voyage only.
British vessels not registered at the port of Dundee to pay one-half
more than the dues in the above schedule.
Vessels, although registered at the port of Dundee, if navigated by
masters who are not burgesses, to pay one-half more than the dues
in the above schedule j but if the masters be domiciled in the bor-
ouo-h, and be free by service in His Majesty's navy or army, the ves-
sels to pay the same dues as if navigated by burgesses.
Vessels navigated by foreign masters to pay double the above dues.
Vessels leaving the harbour or precincts thereof, having paid ton-
nage-dues on the voyage inwards, and taking on board goods at any
other port or place in the river Tay, and returning to the harbour or
precincts thereof, to complete their cargoes, shall not be liable in ton-
nage-dues for such returns.
Vessels launched at the port, to pay tonnage-dues on the voyage
outwards, according to the distance of the port to which such vessels
sail, provided they take goods on board j but if they sail in ballast,
no dues shall be charged.
Vessels remaining in the harbour six months to pay one-third
more than the above dues, excepting those belonging to Dundee era-
ployed in the whale fishery.
Vessels remaining in harbour for one year to pay double dues.
Each vessel entering the harbour, and loading or unloading goods
or ballast within the same, or performing both operations before leav-
ing the harbour, to pay plank-money whether a plank be used or not.
Vessels loading or unloading goods in the precincts of the harbour,
exempted from payment of plank-money.
Steam-vessels employed in the river Tay, in carrying passengers
and their luggage exclusively, exempted from shore-dues.
Vessels leaving the harbour for the purpose of taking on board
ballast in any part of the river, and returning to the harbour or pre-
cincts with ballast, shall not be liable in shore-dues for such return.
