GLASGOW BUTE BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

The objects of this society are to afford aid to in-
digent persons belonging to Bute — principally such
as are of advanced age and respectability of character.
No person in receipt of parochial relief to receive
the benefits of the society, except in extraordinary
circumstances.
A single payment of two guineas constitutes life
membership. Ladies admitted as life members on a
single payment of one guinea.

This society is established to provide, at moderate
rates of premium, for the relief of members during
sickness or other infirmity, and for a sum to be paid
at death. The benefits are, 20s. per week during
sickness and £10 at death. Copies of rules and
forms of application may be had from the manager or
any of the office-bearers.
THE STEWART SOCIETY.

Objects — Literary, social, and benevolent. The
society has published a history of the early Stewarts,
and a magazine dealing mainly with the history and
traditions of the Stewarts is issued from time to
time.
Terms of membership — Ordinary, 5s. per annum;
life, £5 5s. for gentlemen, and £3 3s. for ladies.
A copy of the niles and list of members can be
had on application to the Hon. Secretary.
EWING BEQUESTS.
Founded in 1860 by James Ewing of Strathleven.
The total amount of the bequests is £30,000. Income
at present, about £660. Patrons, The Merchants'

GLASGOW DUMFRIESSHIRE SOCIETY.
This Society was constituted in the year 1869,
and membership is open to all persons connected
with Dumfriesshire by birth, relationship, or other-

The objects of the Co-operation are — (a) To estab-
lish in Glasgow a central register for thoroughly
trained nurses, where they may be engaged by medical
practitioners and the public; (6) to provide nurses
with regnlar employment, and at the same time a
fall remuneration for their services ; (c) to establish
in Glasgow a central home where, while ofi' duty,
nurses may live comfortably at moderate charges;
(d) to provide a fund for the benefit of the nurses of
the Co-operation.
Fully trained nurses supplied any time during the
