Grove Street Institute is an unsectarian home
mission organization, having halls built by public sub-
scription at a cost of over £10,000, and situated on the
margin of one of the most densely populated districts
of the city. It is entirely dependent on voluntary
contributions, and requires £1000 per annum to main-
tain its work. In addition to the Evangelistic,
Medical Mission, Benevolent, and Temperance work,
it has departments for fathers, mothers, working-
lads, young women, and children — its agencies thus
reaching whole families. It has been in operation for
forty-five years as an auxiliary to the churches of all
denominations, with results which prove the soundness
of its principles of mission work, and the great value
of organization.

Iron Works ; secretary, Mr. E. J. Mitchell, Grove
Street Institute. Number of meetings taken annually

The Evangelization Society is a company of
preachers associated to preach the Gospel. As
individuals they belong to various denominations
of the Christian Church, but as Evangelists they
belong to none. They go out through the Evangeliz-
ation Society not as members of any particular Church,
but only as Evangelists, to preach Jesus to the
unconverted. The Society was established in
1868. Over one thousand Missions are supplied
annually with Evangelists in England, Scotland, and
Wales, on the application of Clergymen, Ministers,
and others. As no stated charge is made for the
services of its preachers, no place need be without
the Gospel at the hands of the Evangelist so long as
this Society exists.
